Curatorial Theme
Heart of Annandale aims to profile artworks that have been created by techniques of painting and drawing, photography, and digital art (2D), which serve to explore the theme of “Connections” to Annandale and the Inner West generally.
Artists are invited to answer the question: If you had to explain the suburb of Annandale and the connections that bind together to this place, what would you portray? We are seeking artworks that provide an insightful representation of this community - whether it pertains to the rhythm of community life, a particular moment, a regular or one-off event, a celebration, a special meeting place, a local identity or interesting character, a sub-culture, the natural or man-made environment. We are looking for striking works that will resonate with locals, intrigue tourists and engage passers-by.
We encourage artists to use one or more of the following questions as a starting point for their introduction to Annandale:
What makes Annandale?
How do you define Annandale?
How do others define Annandale?
How does Annandale compare to her neighbours near or far?
Who is Annandale?
